I didn't expect to like this book so much or finish it in a few hours.
Is this book the best book ever written in the history of PNR? No. Are some of the plot points a bit heavy handed? Yep.
But is the world interesting and a little bit of a mix between Kate Daniels' and the Nightside? Yes!
I found the characters to be intriguing and interesting and I took a liking to Cass about ten pages in. I enjoyed following her through her world and the investigation even though I might have done a few things differently.
The love triangle is cleared up at a fairly early time which then makes the would be lover an even more interesting character.
Speaking of, I really enjoyed Abby and wished there had been more of her.
There are some issues with the book, pacing, exposition (at the beginning) and not enough use of magic.
But it's a fun and fast read and perfect for the pool or beach.
